Paper Flower Making with Tiffanie Turner

26 September - 4 October 2024

US artist Tiffanie Turner will be returning to the UK for another wonderful paper flower making retreat at Goodnestone Park in Kent from 26 September-4 October 2024. We’d love you to join us at Goodnestone for a week of creativity, interesting excursions, delicious food and luxurious accommodation in a historic stately home.

Across ten instructional sessions totalling five full days during the retreat, Tiffanie will show you how to make a variety of beautiful, lifelike botanicals using crepe papers. Employing a range of methods, you’ll learn the skills you need to capture the natural beauty of flowers, creating exquisite blooms that are fresh-faced and full of life, and working with techniques to capture the elegance of a fading flower, too.

As a self-taught paper flower artist, Tiffanie has learned many tricks of the trade and is eager to share them all with you. You will learn her special techniques for paper staining, layered centers, and creating different petal forms, and will incorporate them into the flowers you make during your time together. You’ll also learn leaves, stems, and other details for added realism, and will leave at the end of the retreat with a wonderful selection of flowers and the confidence and skills to recreate your own natural looking specimens at home.

This session contains new content tailored for students who have worked with Tiffanie in person or online in 2022 and/or 2023, and is for all skill levels.

Your accommodation for the week is at Goodnestone Park, the former home of Jane Austen’s brother Edward. This beautiful house dating from 1704 is surrounded by Goodnestone Park’s exceptionally beautiful 15-acre gardens which are known for their ancient woodland, parterre gardens and classical English planting. Described as one of the top three gardens in Kent, we will have access to the gardens during our stay including the recently restored Serpentine Walk, a favourite of Jane Austen.

The retreat will include a number of interesting excursions including to the medieval town of Rye with its picturesque jumble of cobbled streets and half-timbered buildings and to Knole Park, one of England’s largest country houses dating from the 15th century. We’ll also enjoy a delicious Chef’s Table lunch at the Pig at the Bridge restaurant known for using the freshest and most authentic foods and ingredients many of which are grown on their potager which we can also visit during our visit.

I had such a wonderful experience at the workshop in Goodnestone last fall. It was truly an experience of a lifetime. I loved our studio time and made some lifelong creative friends. All of the staff throughout the entire stay were really lovely and helpful.”
